The Difference Between Saving and Continuing AI Conversations: 5BY.AI Saved and Anchor
When saving important content in AI conversations, Saved and Anchor may seem similar.
Both are directly selected by the user and can be found again later.
But the two features differ in the scope of what they address.

Saved Is a Specific Conversation Pair
Saved is a record of choosing to revisit a single logical conversation pair consisting of the user's question and the AI's response.
The following content can be left as Saved.
- A counterargument that changed a judgment
- An important technical explanation
- A warning that discovered a risk
- A hypothesis to verify later
- An expression or idea to reuse
- An opinion that conflicts with the current conclusion but should not be forgotten
Saved does not mean the user agreed with the answer.
It means it is worth re-checking.
Anchor Is a Reference Point of Accumulated Thinking State
Anchor is broader than a single answer.
Based on the goal formed up to that point, confirmed facts, chosen direction, conditions to maintain, excluded methods, and remaining problems, it creates a position for resuming.
Anchor can be used when a conversation gets long or when moving to a different AI.
Saved Is for Re-reading, Anchor Is for Resuming
Opening a Saved returns you to a specific question and answer.
Returning to an Anchor lets you confirm the thinking state at that time and start the next work.
Of course, you can make new judgments after reading a Saved, and you can also check the original conversation from an Anchor. But the central roles are different.
They Are Not in a Hierarchical Relationship
Anchor is not a folder containing multiple Saved, nor is Saved a sub-item of Anchor.
In 5BY.AI Graph View, Pack, Saved, and Anchor appear as nodes at the same level.
They may be related but each maintains its own role.
They Are Not Automatically Created
Pack can be automatically composed based on conversation context boundaries.
In contrast, Saved and Anchor are directly selected by the user.
AI does not guess important answers to create Saved or estimate the user's final conclusion to automatically generate Anchor.
Handoff Starts from Anchor
To continue in a different conversation or a different AI, Anchor becomes the starting point.
Handoff assembles records related to the Anchor to prepare the starting context for a new conversation.
A single Saved is not used as the entire state for Handoff. A specific Saved can be important evidence, but the reference point for movement is Anchor.
A Practical Example
Suppose the user is reviewing a product pricing policy.
The AI presents a warning that it could have an adverse effect on existing customers. The user leaves that question and answer as Saved.
Afterward, they confirm the free trial maintenance, monthly limit, existing customer protection conditions, and next verification tasks. The user creates this state as an Anchor.
Days later, when delegating policy risk review to another AI, they execute Handoff from that Anchor.
Saved lets them revisit the important warning, and Anchor lets them continue work from the overall judgment state.
Which Should You Use
You can distinguish by the following question.
Do you want to re-check a specific answer?
Saved is appropriate.
Do you want to start a new conversation based on judgments so far?
Anchor is needed.
Do you need both?
You can leave important conversations as Saved and create an Anchor at the point where judgments are organized.
Distinguishing Saved and Anchor is not about making the feature complex.
It is a design choice to not treat the value of a specific conversation and the thinking state for resuming as the same thing.
The user preserves important moments with Saved and leaves a position for their future self to return to with Anchor.
