Continue Context from Anchor to a New AI Conversation with Handoff

Handoff is a feature that uses the user-selected Anchor as a starting point to assemble recorded context and continue thinking in a new conversation in the same AI or a different supported AI.

When AI conversations get long or review needs to continue in a different AI, the user has to re-explain the previous background. Copying only the last answer drops the premises, and pasting the entire conversation can make the start of the new conversation excessively long. Handoff prepares the context to continue based on the Anchor the user selected.

Handoff is not a new memory node but an explicit process of moving from an Anchor to the starting point of a new conversation.

What Changed in This Update

How to Verify

  1. Create an Anchor at the conversation point you want to continue from.
  2. Select that Anchor in 5by Tools.
  3. Explicitly execute Handoff and select the new conversation to continue in.
  4. In the new conversation, check the delivered context and continue with your current question.

Example in Actual Usage Flow

For example, to use this feature in actual work, the user creates an Anchor at the conversation point they want to continue from. They select that Anchor in 5by Tools. Then they explicitly execute Handoff and select the new conversation to continue in. When needed, they check the delivered context in the new conversation and continue with their current question. However, when using the feature, the following boundaries must be observed. Opening a new tab or new conversation alone does not automatically execute Handoff. Knowing this distinction helps users use the feature without confusing the system's automatic processing with their explicit choices.

Before and After the Change

Understanding this feature as simple storage, auto-summary, or auto-recommendation blurs the boundary with other features. In this update, Handoff is a feature that uses the user-selected Anchor as a starting point to assemble recorded context and continue thinking in a new conversation in the same AI or a different supported AI. We separated actions the user directly executes from actions where the system shows structure, clarifying what is recorded and what does not change state.

Scope and Things to Note

Why This Change Matters in the Overall 5BY.AI Structure

Handoff is a feature for keeping the center of thinking continuity with the user even when using multiple AIs. It does not confine all context to a specific AI's conversation window but lets the user start a new conversation from a selected coordinate. Movement is not automatic but explicit, and whether to maintain or change past judgments is decided by the user in the new conversation.
