What Gets Delivered When Continuing an AI Conversation into a New One: 5BY.AI Handoff Context Structure

When you open a new AI conversation, the context from the previous conversation does not automatically carry over.

The user has to re-explain the goals, conditions, what has already been reviewed, and remaining problems. Moving to a different AI makes the repetitive explanation even larger.

5BY.AI Handoff is a context assembly feature for assisting this transition.

Handoff is not a feature that copies past conversations wholesale but one that assembles recorded coordinates so you can resume from the Anchor the user selected.

The Starting Point Is Anchor

Handoff does not automatically start from any conversation.

An Anchor created by the user becomes the starting point. Anchor is a reference point for resuming based on the goal at the time, confirmed facts, chosen direction, maintenance conditions, and remaining problems.

Context Is Assembled in Four Directions

Conceptually, Handoff uses the following flow.

Anchor → Recent → Top → Current

Anchor is the reference point declared by the user.

Recent supplements the recent conversation flow around that reference point.

Top supplements recorded important coordinates and related evidence.

Current includes the current instruction the user wants to request in the new conversation now.

This structure does not mean it necessarily appears as four separate boxes on the public screen. It means Handoff does not blindly copy the entire past but assembles the starting criteria, surrounding context, and current request separately.

It Is Not a Feature That Auto-Generates a New AI Summary

It is not accurate to understand Handoff as a structure where AI re-reads past conversations and newly evaluates the most important content upon execution.

It uses recorded Anchor and related coordinates. It does not recalculate importance with similarity scores at execution time or guess the user's final judgment.

It Does Not Deliver All Original Text

Copying the entire conversation would make the token count large and could include unnecessary repetitions and discarded hypotheses.

Handoff focuses on constructing the context needed for reentry. If needed, the user can separately check Saved or the original conversation.

The User Must Execute It Directly

Handoff is not automatically executed just because a new tab or new conversation window was opened.

Because the new conversation might have a completely different purpose.

The user directly decides from which Anchor, to which AI, and with what request to continue.

It Can Be Used with Both the Same AI and Different AIs

When a long conversation gets slow, you might move to a new window in the same AI.

Or you might delegate counterarguments, code review, or writing perspective to a different AI.

Handoff's purpose is not to make multiple AIs produce the same answer. It is to let the user leverage different AI perspectives without repeating the starting conditions they confirmed.

Handoff Itself Is Not a Memory Node

In 5BY.AI Graph View, Anchor is a node.

Handoff is a movement relationship from an Anchor to a new conversation. A separate Pack may be formed in the new conversation.

Through this, the user can see from which reference point they moved and what judgments were made after the move.

Attach and Actual Reuse Are Distinguished

The user may prepare a Handoff but not actually work in the new conversation.

Therefore, just connecting a Handoff does not conclude that the memory was actually used. A reentry event can be established when a new first conversation proceeds based on the connected context.

A Practical Example

After reviewing an authentication structure in one AI, the user leaves the following as an Anchor.

Afterward, they execute Handoff to another AI and request do not change the current design, just review the evidence.

The new AI does not start from a completely empty conversation but is also not forced to accept the previous AI's conclusions as correct answers. It starts a new review from the same criteria and preservation conditions.

What Handoff aims to deliver is not every sentence of the conversation.

It is the Anchor the user selected to resume, the recorded context around it, and the request to be performed now.
